Our November Focus Week: new corporate partner, big meetup on Artificial Intelligence, VIP Mentoring with Dieter Zetsche and much more!
A new partner, fascinating startups, fresh insights into a trending topic and a lot of lessons learned – our focus week in November had it all.
The biggest event of the week was our Meetup. More than one hundred guests attended the event focusing on a very trending topic: Artificial Intelligence. Another remarkable figure: representatives from over 20 corporations joined us for the meetup. That’s what we call creating an ecosystem both for startups and corporates!
The meetup started with Sascha Karimpour (Plug & Play Germany) and Raymond J. Chow (Business Innovation Daimler AG) inviting Bernd Gill from Hewlett Packard Enterprises (HPE) to the stage – with big news! HPE joins STARTUP AUTOBAHN as corporate partner and enriches the innovation ecosystem with its comprehensive IT knowledge.
The main theme of the night was Artificial Intelligence (AI). Sticking to the corporate-startup relationship, we had a keynote on Artificial Intelligence by Dr.-Ing. Steven Peters, Manager Technology Management at Daimler AG Daimler. Afterwards, the stage belonged to 5 startups presenting their AI solutions.
What they do: Customized AI solutions for industrial applications.
What they do: B2B Software Platform for the integration of analytics and artificial intelligence into business processes.
What they do: SimSpark automates Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) processes to an unprecedented degree. The technology streamlines simulation-driven product development and unlocks the potential of CAE.
What they do: AX Semantics provides automatically generated content in any language within seconds.
What they do: micropsi industries’ process prediction and control product understands the dynamics in complex industrial processes and learns to control them while optimizing for quality, yield, or cost.
After the official part, networking was on! While enjoying pizza and beer, a lot of new contacts have been made – that’s what these events are all about. Now we’re looking forward to our next meetup which will take place at our new partner HPE on 15th of December 2016 – save the date!
The Stuttgart Innovation tour with around 20 corporations hosted by Roland Berger stopped by to check out STARTUP AUTOBAHN at our coworking spaces. After an intro to our innovation platform, we had pitches from Evopark, Blickshift, TruckPad and TruPhysics.
Behind closed doors, we ran several Deal Flow Sessions between Artificial Intelligence startups and corporations such as Daimler and Hewlett Packard. A Deal Flow Session consists of several one-on-one meetings between the invited corporation and startups which are selected according to the corporation’s technology interests. In the session, startups and corporation can learn more about each other, discuss possible ways to collaborate and decide jointly on next steps.
Last but not least, 3 Lunch & Learn Sessions took place in the STARTUP AUTOBAHN coworking space. Hassan Sohbi (Partner at Taylor Wessing in Frankfurt) shared his knowledge about VC investment, Yannick Frank (Founder of Hatchery) held a session about “How to tell your story and how to market it” and Veit Mathauer (Founder of sympra PR agency) gave insight into PR strategies and planning of PR activities.
We look forward to our next Focus Week mid of December!
